Sailing Instructions

Sailpast marks the traditional start of the boating season with a procession of boats past the commodore’s yacht to salute the Club’s senior officer.

The Commodore will anchor Stingray by the stern, approximately ¼ Mile of the harbour entrance. The fleet will congregate in the area to windward of the Commodore’s yacht in a circle formation, congregating according to the division splits.

After the signal at 13:30 the fleet will enter the Sailpast area, led by Past Commodore Cheryl Etherington in Windvain. The boats will enter on a port tack reach, passing between the bow of BLUEWATER IV and a orange inflatable mark. They will then pass in procession close to but to leeward of Stingray, saluting the Commodore as they do so by luffing their head sail and dipping their Ensign. Exit the sailpast area by passing between two more yellow marks before bearing off to leeward.

If the weather is not suitable for a Sailpast on the lake, the Commodore will travel up and down the Harbour and salute each boat while you dip the Yacht’s Ensign.
